When executive coach and Something Major Founder, Randi Braun, has a parenting question, she turns to parenting expert Claire Lerner, LCSW... In the last year, that has been often!

That’s why Randi will be sitting down with Claire on Wednesday, March 31 at 7:30pm ET for a conversation about practical pandemic parenting. 

These are incredibly challenging times to be a parent, as we navigate the feelings and behaviors of our kids in the midst of immense uncertainty for all of us. Please join us as Claire shares her insights with the Something Major community for how we can parent our children one year into the pandemic… without pulling our hair out of our heads. 

In advance of her forthcoming book, Claire will be sharing some of her best parenting strategies to help you not just survive, but thrive. We'll be saving ample time for your questions, so join live to get your questions answered by Claire.

Meet the Speakers: 

Claire Lerner: is a licensed clinical social worker and child development specialist. She served as the Director of Parenting Resources at ZERO TO THREE for more than eighteen 18 years. Claire has also been a practicing clinician for 33 years, partnering with parents to do the detective work of decoding their children’s behavior to solve their most vexing child-rearing challenges. She also provides training to local preschools and pediatric residents. Claire is the author of hundreds of parenting resources, including books, blogs, podcasts, and videos. She writes a column for PBS Kids, and her work has been published by several parenting publications. She has served as a content expert for numerous national daily newspapers. Claire is the mother of two very spirited children, Sam, age 30, and Jess, age 28, and two stepchildren, Justin, age 30, and Sammy, age 27. She lives in Bethesda, Maryland, with her husband, Rich, and two, also very spirited, pups.

A year into the pandemic, we’re burned out. Join our conversation about restoring our sanity when our workplaces are in crisis.

A year into working from home--or living at work--we’re not just exhausted, we’re burned out.And we’re hitting critical burnout mass as a workforce: with nearly 70% of Americans exhibiting signs of burnout, with depression and anxiety rates spiking (especially for Americans of color), and with 2 million+ working moms leaving the workforce. 

We are in crisis, en masse, so where do we go from here?

As we mark a year into the pandemic, Something Major is convening a panel of experts and leaders to share what they are doing to preserve their sanity and the sanity of their teams. Please join executive coach and Something Major Founder, Randi Braun, for a candid conversation about the state of burnout in our workplaces with three dynamic panelists:

  • Claudia Howard, Sr. Account Executive at Google

Meet the Speakers:

Claudia Howard: is currently a Sr. Account Executive at Google, supporting government agencies and advocacy organizations. Prior to her current role, Claudia served as a Global Brand Manager at The Weather Company, overseeing the strategy and execution of marketing efforts to optimize the user experience and grow the user base for digital and mobile products, with media partners in various global markets. A seasoned marketing professional with extensive experience in the entertainment, sports, and media sectors, Howard has served in various marketing roles throughout her career at FOX Sports, Cartoon Network & Adult Swim. Howard earned her MBA from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism & Mass Communication from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

Carolina Lopez Herz: is Vice President/Director at BCW and an experienced communications professional and trusted counselor to BCW’s most senior executives on high-stakes client issues and crises. In her current role, Carolina advises C-Suite of organizations going through complex reputational challenges. Beyond her work with clients, Carolina works closely with the firm’s leadership in assessing talent, optimizing operations and leads BCW North America marketing and communications. Prior to her current role, Carolina worked in the office of the Worldwide Chair and CEO managing client accounts, new business and thought leadership projects. Carolina was recently named to PRWeek’s 2020 Women to Watch List. Carolina received a B.A. from Brandeis University in Political Science and a Master’s in Public Relations and Corporate Communications from Georgetown. She grew up in Caracas, Venezuela and is fluent in Spanish. Carolina lives in Washington, D.C. with her husband and son. 

Kat Myers: is the Head of People at Respondent, a fully remote market research technology startup whose mission is to Make Research Inclusive. She is a huge fan of remote (or distributed) teams and has a passion for setting up inclusive systems to foster success for employees. 

As the Head of People, Kat focuses on ensuring the company mission, values, and goals are incorporated into the employee experience lifecycle: from recruiting to organizational design through to exits. She works with the CEO and leadership team to move the company forward. Prior to joining Respondent, Kat worked in People Operations at Warby Parker in New York and eero (acquired by Amazon) in San Francisco. 

Kat received a BA in Women’s Studies from Emory University and recently started singing lessons, which is something she has always wanted to do!

Alicia will share her expertise on how women can use fear as a launching point to propel them forward instead of holding them back. Randi and Alicia will discuss a variety of fear-related topics--including how to reclaim your fear and use it to your advantage, how to cultivate courage, and how to use “fear” and “courage” to live a more fulfilled life at work and home--before opening it up to your questions.

Alicia Daugherty: is a certified coach and founder and principal of Alicia Daugherty Coaching LLC, a leadership and executive coaching practice she launched after retiring from Comcast Cable as Vice President, Consumer Experience Transformation. Throughout her thirty-year career in the cable telecom and electric utility industries, Alicia held executive positions in Customer Experience, Program Management and Field Operations. Her passion is helping leaders at all levels improve their performance and fulfillment through deepening self-awareness, understanding their impact and defining concrete actions. 

In addition to her coach credentials, Alicia holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the University of Delaware and an MBA from Villanova University. She completed the Cable Executive Management Program at Harvard Business School, the Comcast Women in Leadership Program at Wharton and the Betsy Magness Leadership Institute, the flagship executive program of Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT). The proud parents of two grown children, Alicia and her husband Jim are award-winning homebrewers and reside in Chester County, Pennsylvania.
